Richard Whittaker Ltd is a family-owned business, established in 1962. The years since have seen a steady progression of expansion including the most recent acquisition of Innovative Solutions in July 2006. With over 50 employees, we are large enough to cope with the demands of big business but small enough to care about those who are just starting out and we pride ourselves on being versatile. With over 40 years experience in the food industry, we supply raw materials and ingredients, blended products, catering and retail packs. We have noticed an upsurge in the number of clients requiring allergen-free products and realise that this is an area in which our expertise could be useful. HACCP and allergen awareness are integral to our planning and production, and we ELISA test both raw materials and plant and equipment to ensure our products are truly "free-from" gluten and casein.

After a devastating fire in 2003, the facility was rebuilt and totally refurbished. As a result, we are now able to offer specialist packing equipment and blending services to provide both foodservice and retail packs into numerous industries (see below). There are currently 5 blenders and 10 packing lines in operation, with state-of-the-art form, fill and seal machines and Ishida head filling machines. We pack from bulk to individual packs (or vice versa) and dispense into paper bags, plastic bags, doy packs, plastic tubs, composite cardboard tubs and laminate sachets, weights from 10g to 1000kg

Richard Whittaker Limited has built an excellent reputation as a wholesaler and quality supplier of starches and raw materials into a number of industrial sectors, in particular the food industry. Our belief in total quality management is proven and shall continue to be controlled, maintained and developed through the firm commitment of the company's management team, to ensure that our customer’s needs are continually met. We have long prided ourselves on our ability to offer customers a top quality product and high level of service. We are accredited by the Organic Food Federation to handle organic produce and have a Health Mark awarded for safe handling of dairy and gelatine foodstuffs. We were pleased to gain BRC Global Food Standard accreditation in 2007.

As an independent supplier of starches (both native and modified) and a major producer of dry powder blends, we aim to offer competitive prices and to prove that it is possible to offer both quantity and quality.

Amongst the industries supplied are: Snack foods, Frozen foods, Food Ingredients, Dairy Products, Meat products, Convenience foods, Confectionary, Bakery products (including gluten-free, egg-free, yeast-free and casein/lactose free), Kosher, Organic and Vegetarian foodstuffs.

Starches (native and modified) which are readily available from stock are potato, maize (also known as cornflour or cornstarch), rice, tapioca and wheat (low gluten available), maltodextrins, dried glucose syrups.
